Proportional Circle Map

A proportional circle map is a map in which the cartographer uses circles of various sizes to show the proportionality of the information presented. Not all circle maps use actual circles. The proportional circle map above used a series of squares, circles, and symbols in various sizes to show the effects of pollution and possible pollutants in the state of Maryland.

DEM

A DEM is a digital representation of ground surface topogrophy and/or terrain. This DEM of Chalkidiki in Greece and is a popular tourist destination there because of its proximity to the gulf.

DRG

A DRG(digital raster graphic) is a digital image that comes from scanning a paper USGS(United States Geological Survey) topographic map for use on a computer. DRGs created by USGS are usually scanned at 250 dots per inch(dpi) and saved as a file called TIFF.The raster projected and georeference is to the surface on Earth. This type of map/graphic is regularly used in GIS applications. The above map is an example of a USGS 7.5minute topographic map.

Hysometric Map

In topographic surveying, a map giving elevations by contours, or sometimes by means of shading, tinting, or batching. This is a map of France with hypsometric tinting. Different colors are used to show elevation changes so that the reader can see the area's relief.

Satellite Map


This map shows how ever since Mt. Helens exploded in 1980, the land persists to reform. NASA has captured numerous imageries such as this area using one of their Landsat satellites.
