A DRG(digital raster graphic) is a digital image that comes from scanning a paper USGS(United States Geological Survey) topographic map for use on a computer. DRGs created by USGS are usually scanned at 250 dots per inch(dpi) and saved as a file called TIFF.The raster projected and georeference is to the surface on Earth. This type of map/graphic is regularly used in GIS applications. The above map is an example of a USGS 7.5minute topographic map.
